How Health Navigator is Transforming Cancer Diagnostics and Treatment

Hello, dear readers,

We are excited and proud to introduce you to Health Navigator – an innovative digital platform that provides necessary assistance and support to people affected by oncological diseases. Health Navigator was created to facilitate access to qualified medical specialists and provide reliable information about various types of cancer and treatment methods.

On the pages of Health Navigator, you will find information about all types of therapies, as well as post-treatment healthcare, navigating the healthcare systems for best treatment results, an alphabetical index with all common and uncommon terms, and much more up-to-date and evidence-based information.

Behind the Curtains of Health Navigator

The journey to creating Health Navigator symbolically began on March 8, 2023, when my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Over the following pivotal months, I met hundreds of people undergoing the same healthcare journey and saw firsthand the issues faced by cancer-diagnosed individuals.

By December 2023, my focus was solely on transforming the lives of those affected by cancer. I continued my research to determine if there were existing platforms addressing these needs.

To my discovery, no such platform existed for people in the whole European Union, yet it was crucially needed.

All the conversations with people in hospitals, the firsthand experience with the system, and the evident lack of an informational portal in the era of technology naturally led me to the decision to develop a platform that provides access to quality medical care and information for everyone in need. Just three months later, after diligent work and training, Health Navigator was awarded by the Rinker Center's entrepreneurship program, confirming the significance and potential of our mission.

Just three months later, we are excited to unveil the pilot version of Health Navigator. We will be showcasing it at the Startup Competition, an integral part of the We Make Future 2024 International Trade Fair and Innovation Festival in Bologna, Italy!

What does the platform provide?

Our website is divided into several main sections covering important aspects of cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as information on alternative medicine, side effects of medications, and more. Here is a more detailed list of what you will find:

  • Diagnoses and types of cancer: we start with information on the 5 most common cancer diagnoses: breast, cervical, lung, ovarian, and colorectal cancer.
  • Treatment: Extensive resources on chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy, targeted therapy, and surgical interventions, as well as alternative methods.
  • Side effects: Guides for understanding and managing the treatment side effects.
  • For the patient: The patient's journey, clinical pathways, EU regulations, and other regulatory information regarding oncology diseases.
  • Medical specialists and hospitals: Access to a database of medical specialists and medical facilities through telehealth services.

Additional information on the security and reliability of the information

At Health Navigator, we place great importance on the reliability and currency of the information provided. All data and resources on the platform are carefully checked and based on official medical sources, reflecting the most modern treatment protocols and methods used in Europe. This allows us to offer our users reliable and accurate medical information, which can be crucial for their treatment and recovery.

In the case that there is information corresponding to protocols and treatment methods from other countries, this will be mentioned on the relevant page.

Access to medical specialists

To maximize quality and multidisciplinary medical services, the Health Navigator platform provides the opportunity for consultations with more than 20 types of medical specialists. Among them are obstetrician-gynecologists, mammalogists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, endocrinologists, neurologists, urologists, imaging specialists, gynecologic oncologists, oncosurgeons, onco-dermatologists, nuclear radiologists, radiotherapists, and others. This variety of specialists ensures that each user can receive the precise medical help they need, easily starting with diagnosis through the platform, and avoid unnecessary transport or other expenses.

This approach not only supports patients in their treatment process, but also facilitates access to qualified medical care, which is essential for successfully coping with oncological diseases.

Message from the founder

The Health Navigator team supports you at every step of your cancer journey. We understand the immense challenges faced by patients and their families in combating this disease, because we have been there too.

Our mission is to equip you with comprehensive information resources, ensuring that you thoroughly understand your condition and receive the best possible care should you or a loved one be diagnosed. Alarmingly, statistics in Bulgaria and across the EU show a high incidence of delayed or incorrect diagnoses. Such trends are concerning and demand urgent change, as every statistic actually represents a human life.

Our goal is to enable as many individuals in Bulgaria as possible to obtain timely and accurate diagnoses, along with effective treatment. Subsequently, we aim to extend our services across the European Union. This expansion will bolster our contribution to combating one of the gravest and most impactful challenges of our time: the fight against cancer.
